Field Trip!

This Saturday morning we took a field trip to the United States Air Force Museum. Matt is always quick to point out that this destination is Dayton's #2 most popular, only to fall behind Young's Dairy...but it's a little cold out for barns and ice cream. Maddie was excited all week to go see airplanes and was worried they would be loud. We told her they were just parked so she could look at them. She was the quietest I have ever heard her walking through the different hangars and looking at all the airplanes. She really liked the airplane we could walk through.
Kalee had just as much fun, but stayed on Matt's shoulders most of the time. The girls were so well behaved we made a stop for a Happy Meal on the way home. It was such a great day!

I've Got the Power!

What is it with remotes? The girls must be watching their Daddy because of all the toys in our house, these remotes are the most fought over.

Paging Mr. Sun?!?

The girls figured if they wore their sunglasses every day for a week Mr. Sun would peek out and melt our snow! It didn't take very long as yesterday and today we spent at the park with temperatures in the 50's and 60's. As I mentioned before, this weather is like chicken noodle soup for my soul and I think the girls agree!

Ch Ch Ch Changes

We had a great Doctor's appointment on Valentine's Day although we had to remind the doctor who isn't our regular to check for TWO heartbeats and not just one! We heard both of them and the babes are doing well! We scheduled a special twin ultrasound on March 15th when I'll be 18 weeks so we should be able to find out the gender of the babies then. This week I met a lady at the local park with 2 sets of twins, a 6 year old and a baby due next month! I learned a lot from her including the fact that fraternal twins are twice as likely after you have had one set. That is some VERY useful news :) Below is a picture of me at 12 weeks, starting to show a little but apparently twin pregnancies usually 6 weeks ahead, so I have the maternity clothes ready!

Cute Coats

Matt's friend got the girls these adorable coats for Christmas and they usually only get to wear them to church on Sundays because I want to keep them looking cute (the coats that is). I had to share this picture that was surprisingly easy to take this morning but probably because Daddy was making funny faces in the background. I love dressing them up for church especially because they only have to keep their outfits clean for an hour and Maddie loves picking out which dress to wear for her Sunday school class. I think I have some fashion divas on my hands which could be trouble in the future since they already like going to the mall...but I think it's because of the playland at this age :)

Arts and Crafts

Maddie has been very interested in painting, using pipe cleaners and especially cutting with her saftey scissors. She often asks to paint first thing in the morning and I have to hold her off until I can get the table cleared off and free of things that don't need to be painted. On Sunday, she woke up and asked to paint a picture for Kyle, her favorite cousin who is 13 and was actually very gracious when he received his masterpiece.

Kalee of course wanted in on the action and got more paint on her face and inside her mouth than the paper but she had fun. I don't think paint is one of her favorite foods for now...

Maddie also was very proud of her first pair of safety scissors that were one whole dollar at Dollar General. I let her pay for them and she didn't take her hands off of them for the next 6 hours. We even had a little wrestling match when she wanted to take them to bed with her. She skipped lunch to "cut coupons" and it is so fun to watch her concentrate so hard. Of course, it was not so fun cleaning up the millions of tiny pieces of paper that she left behind, but it was a learning experience too!

In the beginning....

After finding out we were expecting twins, I thought a blog would be a great idea to keep up with pictures and other happenings at the P household.

I went in for a routine ultrasound on Tuesday, January 25th. I encouraged Matt to stay at home with the girls as I thought it was going to be just that...routine. As soon as the ultrasound tech put the wand to my stomach I immediately saw two little Ps in their own separate sacs and was overcome with emotions. This was such a blessing in more ways than one. When I found out I was pregnant I wondered if I would be done having children after this third. Or would I want a fourth child down the road? God answered our prayers by giving us a "two for one" deal so I only have one more pregnancy to go through but a nice even number of 4 children :) I showed Matt the picture of "our baby" when I got home and his face immediately turned white when he turned to me and said "there's two there!". We had a celebration dinner later that night with my parents and everyone reacted with surprise! Trust me, we were just as surprised as you!

The big sisters are doing well and Maddie continually asks when she can hold my babies. I have been feeling great and am looking forward to some Spring weather so we can be more active and play outside. What a surprise this pregnancy and now two babies has been but nothing is ever dull at our household!
